Captain Morgan 100 Proof Spiced Rum

Maintains the same overly sweet scent as the original Captain Morgan Spiced. The flavor leans heavily toward artificial honey and toffee—to be clear, I’m not opposed to sweetness; it’s the artificial quality I dislike. The higher proof doesn’t really cut the sweetness of the original so much as it adds a harsher alcohol burn in the throat. If you’re planning to mix it, it’s acceptable with cola, though it then makes the drink overly sweet.

I'm normally a bourbon guy, so I took a risk by buying this remembering what the original Captain tastes like. I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted it. It's sweet and fruity with a good amount of spice. I love Bottled and Bond whiskey, and though I'm in no way saying this tastes like that, the higher proof does help this out a lot! I'd pick it up again.

Alcohol, caramel, & butterscotch aromas (in that order). Meh. A quick taste has light caramel and the spice comes afterwards in sweet, mild pepperiness. A longer taste has the pepper hit stronger with cheap candy-sweet caramel. Definitely best to be used as a mixer!

Realistically, you only buy Cap’n to make rum n cokes. In that capacity it’s fine and serviceable, if not sweet as you grow older. But still tasty

Very sweet with a hint of spice. Not too bad. It could have been great if it was bumped up a few notches. Tasted on the rocks.

Detected strong vanilla and some caramel. Spicy on the tongue and REALLY SWEET. Too sweet for my taste.
