Convite Mezcal Espadin Esencial is the entry level mezcal for the brand. It is made from 100% espadin which was harvested after 8 years. It is made using artisanal practices which include a conical underground stone oven to cook the agave, a burro-drawn tahona stone to crush the agave, and natural fermentation in wooden vats. It is double distilled in a copper pot and bottled at 40% ABV.

Slight pepper in the begining then transfers to more robust herbal green notes, a larger amount of mineral that some other espadins, with an intense amount of woody smoke. Finish is still heavy in smoke, but adds intense black pepper as well. its definitely a smokier mezcal, good for any drinks needing higher smoke.
This is a perfect gateway mezcal: typical sweet vegetal notes to the nose and a crisp, citrusy palate with decent length. For less than $40 a bottle, it’s an excellent introduction for new mezcal drinkers and a great everyday pour for the home bar.
