Slim pickings in a Mexico City dive bar, but I found this delightful sipper. The nose is a beautiful bouquet of floral aromas. The liquid is smooth and delicately smokey, with a long sweet finish.
Mezcal Santa Pedrera
About this bottle
Santa Pedrera is produced at the Amatengo distillery with its cousins at Espíritu Lauro. It's made with 100% espadín agave, grown near the distillery and matured 6 - 7 years before harvest. The distillery uses very traditional processes and even lets its mash ferment without the use of added yeasts or sugars. This expression is released at a slightly higher proof for bolder flavor, given its nickname of "Sadness Breaker."

A beautiful and powerful espadin by the producers of the elegant Espiritu Lauro. I love this straight up or in a mezcal old fashioned
Nose of citrus, bread, agave, pear and smoke. Tastes of spiced wood, barrel, pepper. Delicious.
