Vago Mezcal Espadín de Emigdio Jarquin Ramirez (50.7% ABV) NOM-O188X An elegant, Mezcal by friends Judah Kuper & Dylan Sloan with the help of Judah’s father-in-law, Aquilino Garcia Lopez founders of Mezcal Vago in Oaxaca, Mexico. Emigdio Jarquín Ramirez distills artisan Spirits outside of Miahuatlán de Porfirio Diaz, produced by hand from local Espadín agave that has been slow roasted & naturally fermented, combined with natural mineral water before being bottled at 50.7% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of agave, peppers, wildflowers & earthy minerality; while a bold life adds notes of roasted agave, yucca, plantains, cilantro & a hint of wild honey; that led to a balanced death of medium length with notes of pepper & coriander. Received from my flaviar sample box of mezcals. Having somewhat a difficult time figuring out if this one is correct so this is labeled: Mezcal vago espadin de emigdio. It is 50.1%. Tried neat. On the nares it’s smoky, earthy, and spicy with notes of pepper. On the palate I get spice, pepper, earthy, & coriander. Somewhat hot finish in the back of my throat.
