About this bottle

The "La Latilla" rancho slopes gently to the east which provides full afternoon sun exposure. The agaves were harvested in late 2014 and early 2015 so it bares the 2015 vintage date. Aged 7 years at harvest, the agaves had average sugar content of 32%, higher than usual. The tequila was aged in worn, ex-American whiskey barrels for at least one year.

Surprisingly crystal clear anejo. Had heard great things about Ocho and had to try. Fresh, vegetal and grassy. Clearly well made and sippable, but seemingly picked up very little from the barrel. It grew on me and smoothed out significantly over the course of the neat pour, but I’m not sure I’d go back to it vs comparable cost tequilas.

Very light. Flavors are a bit of a muted pepper, low level of sweetness, small caramel and a nice agave flavor. For an anejo, the color is very light. It’s sippable and really an easy neat drinker. Don’t hate it and don’t love it. Not really tasting the whiskey barrels.
