So my first taste of this was quite underwhelming, but it was also in a plastic cup which think dulled the flavor a bit, tasted too thin and reedy. Second time was in a proper glass and shows much more of its true self. Yes, it tastes young because it is young, only four years, but the bright strawberry and cherry notes of the sherry aging is evident, a hint of rye spice underneath as well a bit of port oakiness and rustic heat from the armagnac cask. Of course, it may be shallow and thin depth and conplexity-wise, and doesn’t have the lush mouthfeel of the Joseph Magnus or the rich body of the Copper and Cask (my personal favorite cigar blend I’ve had so far), but I’m a fan of this bottle for one good reason: I paid $30 for this at my local liquor store, compared to $179 for the Joseph Magnus. You simply aren’t getting this kind of complexity and flavor for $30. On the whole, the Copper and Cask is the most superior cigar blend bourbon I’ve tasted, but seeing as most people will have an aversion to anything MGP (which i never understood, if it’s good it’s good, drink it), but if you want a Kentucky distilled cigar blend for excellent value, it’s hard to beat this guy.

Nose- funky fruit, wood, Taste- Wow! Not sure I can explain the taste. If you married a wonderful apple pie with a wonderful cherry pie. Also a sweet cherry wood tobacco note. Nice spice & proof as well. Sticky wet long finish. Hands down the best bottle for the money I've ever experienced! Aroma is delightful, taste blows that away. This is not your typical bourbon profile, definitely a sweet finish based profile just done to perfection. I totally understand the cigar aspect of the project but this thing stands up alone. I think adding tobacco to the mix might kill the complexity, although a bit of smoke may work well with the sweeter flavors. BRAVO. I LOVE IT!
NEAT NOSE - Cherries and Vanilla with subtle notes of caramel and sweet oak. PALATE. Subtle. Thin mouthfeel. Cherries and Vanilla Galore. FINISH - Short. Sweet Oak and Vanilla and notes reminiscent of watered down sherry. BUY? - Yes, but you’re not missing out on much if you pass on this one. $40 is just a respectable price given the age and finishing casks. Just don’t expect a Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend substitute or alternative. BUY AGAIN? - No, but maybe with some more age I’d be tempted to.
101 proof. Bourbon aged in sherry, port and armagnac casks. 70% corn, 21% rye, 9% malted barley. Sweet wood, banana, cherry, vanilla cream, candied apples, oranges, smooth, char, sweet tobbaco leaves, toasted caramel, butter corn, grapes.
Not sure about the expert ls review to n this but as a scotch drinker affectionado branching out into bourbon and whiskey....this on is smooth and soft with a nice caramel background lending to a subtle lingering warm finish.
