Nose: Blueberry and blackberry marmalade, roasted orange peel fermented in alcohol, sweet apple and cherry lozenges, herbal notes (rosemary, sage, thyme, oregano), some cured pepper spice and oakiness, some sweet nuttiness, peppermint, baking spice, brown sugar, gingerbread, a hint of Jamaican rum funk, sweet candied lime, dark plum jam, a slight bit of butterscotch, hint of molasses and caramel Palate: Cinnamon and green paprika spice, some oak bitterness, oak sweetness and caramel, some orange peel, hint of candied apple, some ripe green apple and ripe lemon overtones, oak spice with nuances of black pepper Finish: Treacle and molasses, a hint of green apple, a hint of cherry, rum funkiness and definite smokey barrel char, some powdered sugar, hint of candy apple, some remnants of oak in the background with a ever so slight sweet coating of pepper seeds and cinnamon

This smells interesting. There's an ethanol twinge at the start, but then there's lots of overripe banana, molasses, and what I suppose must be the "Jamaica Funk". It's kinda like the sweet and tangy smell of barbeque. Taking a sip, molasses, burnt sugar, banana, nutmeg, and allspice. Grapefruit peel, with the pith on. The finish is quick, leaving a pleasant gingerbread taste. Further tastes, the gingerbread is pronounced, so is banana. Burnt molasses, and maybe licorice? This is something that I like quite a bit.

Nose has banana heavy, light wood and funk. Slight off note (petrol, some other alcohol?). Taste is a little flat, again wood funk. Short to medium finish. Has a little sourness and a little off flavor going on but still good enough to sip if not being entirely discerning. Probably great in mixed drinks

K a 3.5

Lots of banana on the nose and palate with a finish of pencil lead that cuts through even in a daiquiri. I found it's most delicious with other intense flavors like in a rum Negroni or a coquito, where the funkier flavors are softened, but the mellower flavors still come through.

With the obvious bananas foster funk of Jamaican rum comes caramel and a touch of cider at first scent. The flavor belies the scent with caraway and dark richness following an oiliness that clings to your tongue. Sweetly grassy, too.

PhilD 4.3

It has that Jamaican funk, vanilla, oak, maybe candied nuts all in the nose. The sip doesn’t disappoint with those same notes with a lingering almost vanilla and herbal finish. Great in a cocktail or even neat
