This is a traditional Greek brandy distillate that dates back to 1888. It is made from Muscat wines from Samos and Lemnos islands in Greece and infused with Mediterranean botanicals.

Metaxa is made by diluting aged cask strength grape brandy with muscat wine and botanicals (like anise, rose petals, etc). Each star represents a year's ageing. 40 ABV. Flavor of the five star is honey floral and fruit, wood with a ethanol bite (compared to the 7 star). Thin quick finish. Sip room temp or with ice.
Once you taste Metaxa you will always know it. The cheapest one I still a great alcohol to drink. Nose: grapes, sweets, a hit of nuts Taste: sweet, grapie, hard to feel alcohol Finish: short but pleasent.
Sixth tasting of the evening. 4/5 bottle. Smell of cheap port. The taste of cheap perfumery water. Too harsh and unnatural taste. Lots of alcohol and chemical flavors. It's hard to drink!
